“I’ve prepared my Grammy award speech.” – Ayra Starr

Ayra Starr, the Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer also known as Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, has disclosed that she has already crafted her acceptance speech. The news comes as her song ‘Rush’ earned a nomination in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys.

In a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, the artist from Mavin Records expressed confidence in clinching the award despite facing tough competition.

“Ayra Starr expressed her excitement about the upcoming Grammy Awards, noting that she has already prepared her acceptance speech, particularly given the significance of it being the first African category. She mentioned having envisioned her walk to the stage and even selected her outfit for the occasion.

When asked about her plans after potentially winning the award, Ayra Starr shared that her first celebration would involve dining at a Chinese restaurant, followed by a video call to her mother.

The 66th Grammy Awards are scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Los Angeles.

Ayra Starr’s track ‘Rush’ will be competing for the inaugural Best African Music Performance award, alongside Davido’s ‘Unavailable’, Asake and Olamide’s ‘Amapiano’, Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’, and Tyla’s ‘Water’.”
