Zamfara: Gov Lawal pledges help for victims of market gutted by fire

Governor Dauda Lawal from Zamfara State has committed to providing comprehensive support and aid to the individuals affected by the recent fire incident at Gusau Central Market. The blaze occurred on Tuesday night, claiming one life and causing significant damage to more than 50 shops.

In a statement released by Sulaiman Bala Idris, the spokesperson for Governor Lawal, it was revealed that the governor, during his assessment of the fire’s aftermath, expressed a strong determination to assist those impacted by the tragic event.

The governor, while addressing the victims of the fire incident at the Gusau Central Market, Zamfara, reportedly said: “I would like to express my condolences to the market leadership and the family of the victim who passed away due to the recent fire incident.

“Even before the unfortunate fire incident, I constituted a committee to conduct a thorough investigation on how the government could intervene to enhance and develop the markets across the state. My government is committed to supporting the victims of the fire incident and will explore various ways to mitigate their loss.

The Zamfara State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Abdulrahman Tumbido, disclosed that the government provided an emergency response to control and extinguish the fire.

Responding on behalf of the victims, the chairman of the Gusau Central Market commended the Zamfara State Government for its prompt response following the unfortunate incident.
