Bello, recognizing these differences, emphasized her preference for being addressed as “Ma’am” rather than by her first name, Shaffy. When confronted with young people who casually call her by her name, she responds with affectionate yet firm words, conveying that they haven’t earned the right to address her informally. She often emphasizes the age disparity and reminds them that even if she didn’t have children, the level of familiarity they seek is not warranted at their age.
