Once more, Reno Omokri, a prominent socio-political activist, has launched a verbal assault on Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, labeling him as detrimental to the nation’s interests.
Omokri took aim at Obi on Sunday, urging Nigerians to acknowledge the slight improvement in the local currency’s exchange rate against the US dollar.
Expressing his views via his official Twitter handle, Omokri emphasized the importance of recognizing the incremental advancements in foreign exchange value.
He stated that the Nigerian currency, the naira, has continued to strengthen against the dollar and is presently valued at ₦1610 to $1 in both official and parallel markets.
In his message, he remarked, “The floating of the naira has led to its appreciation across both official and parallel markets. It has gained ₦6 and is now being traded at ₦1610 to $1. Let us acknowledge these incremental improvements. Why? Because those against Nigeria will seize any opportunity to spread negativity.
“Consider Peter Obi, for instance. He remains silent when the naira strengthens. He doesn’t highlight when the Nigerian Stock Exchange achieves remarkable profitability.
“He is nowhere to be found when our GDP grows by 3.4% according to the latest NBS figures. He doesn’t speak up when it’s reported that our oil imports have decreased by 50%.
“But let even a minor setback occur, and Obi will amplify it with his megaphones, singing, ‘Go Tell It On The Mountains’.”
