“You face danger if you visit Cameroon” – Ambazonian militants caution Okocha and Amokachi regarding Eto’o’s invitation.

The President of the Cameroonian Football Association, Samuel Eto’o, has extended an invitation to Nigeria’s football stars for a ceremonial tournament scheduled to take place in Victoria City, Cameroon, on Thursday, November 30, 2023. However, a separatist group has issued a stark warning, threatening to harm the invited players.

Comrade Chris Anon, who claims to be the head of the Ambazonia Interim Government based in the United States, delivered the warning in a voice message sent to DAILY POST’s correspondent. The separatist group, known as the Restoration Fighters of the Ambazonia Interim Government, is advocating for the independence of Southwest Cameroon.

Eto’o’s intention behind inviting international football stars, including notable figures like Austin Jay Jay Okocha and Daniel Amokachi from Nigeria, is to foster relationships and promote football development in Cameroon. However, the separatist group vehemently opposes this initiative, labeling the tournament as a mockery of the Ambazonian people.

The Ambazonian group has declared a total lockdown on Victoria City and entire Fako County on the specified date, November 30, 2023. Residents are warned to stay indoors, with the group emphasizing that any violation of the lockdown order will be met with severe consequences.

In the voice message, Anon conveyed the group’s determination to safeguard the integrity of Ambazonia’s independence struggle. The separatist group questions the timing and location of the tournament, expressing suspicions about potential exploitation for purposes not in the best interests of Victoria and Ambazonia as a whole.

The group specifically cautioned football legends Jay Jay Okocha, Daniel Amokachi, and others against participating in the tournament, as their involvement may inadvertently lead to bloodshed. The organizers, including Samuel Eto’o, are criticized for their decision to host the event in Victoria, a territory marred by war for over seven years, resulting in the deaths of 30,000 Ambazonians. The separatist group raises legitimate concerns about the potential misuse of the situation for motives contrary to the well-being of Victoria and Ambazonia in general.
