Yobe: Governor Buni Officially Approves 2024 Finance and Appropriation Bills

On Thursday, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State officially endorsed the 2024 finance and appropriation bills, following their approval by the State House of Assembly. The signing ceremony unfolded at WAWA Hall in the Government House Damaturu. Governor Buni emphasized that the budget’s enactment adhered to the provisions of sections 121 (1) and (2) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.

During the signing event, Governor Buni reflected, stating, “I presented the 2024 budget estimate to the Yobe State House of Assembly on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, for deliberations and eventual passage into law. The proposed budget amounted to N217,000,000,000.00, encompassing both capital and recurrent expenditures for the fiscal year 2024. Notably, the House, in its wisdom, made a realistic adjustment by reducing it to N216,950,000,000.00, with recurrent expenditure at N94,156,000,000.00 and approved capital expenditure at N122,794,000,000.00, a slight reduction from the initial allocation of N122,844,000,000.00 to the sector.”

Governor Buni expressed gratitude to the Assembly’s leadership for their unwavering support, cooperation, and diligence, which contributed to the timely passage of the 2024 budget. He lauded the collaborative efforts, envisioning that this collective spirit would drive determination, strategic synergy, and collaboration to better serve the people of Yobe State. The Governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to executing policies and programs with speed and success in the coming year.

It is worth recalling that the 2024 budget was themed “Budget of Consolidation and Economic Recovery.”
