Work With Me To Fight Poverty, Terrorism, Tinubu Urges Governors

President Tinubu acknowledged the challenging period Nigeria is undergoing, expressing optimism that the current difficulties will soon dissipate. He attributed his confidence to the implementation of strategic economic policies.

President Bola Tinubu has urged all state governments to collaborate with him in combating poverty and terrorism in the country.

The President delivered this statement at the Lagos House in Marina during his visit hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Tinubu emphasized that he and his financial team are diligently working to enhance Nigeria’s living conditions for all citizens. Acknowledging the challenges faced by the people, he pledged relentless efforts to improve the economy and provide opportunities for Nigerians.

Commending Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy for effectively managing Lagos state, Tinubu assured traditional rulers that while preserving culture and tradition, an all-inclusive government would combat issues such as property rights in the country.

He urged state governments to prioritize education, advocate for increased enrollment in schools, and focus on agriculture for self-sufficiency in food production. The President emphasized the need for collective effort, stating that the challenges faced by Nigeria would soon pass with the implementation of economic policies.

Tinubu also shared remarks about the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, emphasizing the transient nature of power and expressing gratitude to Nigerians for their unwavering support during the elections.

During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu observed a minute of silence for the late Governor Akeredolu and lauded the President’s leadership during the festive season. Despite current difficulties, he expressed pride in the policies aimed at improving the country’s economic situation.

Representatives of traditional rulers, including Oba Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, hoping for a resurgence of Nigeria’s greatness. They also appealed for constitutional support for local council development areas and traditional institutions in Lagos state.

Senator Wasiu Eshilokun pledged continuous support at the National Assembly, while the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, advocated for legislative independence nationwide.

David Akolade Alabi, the National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), appealed to the President to establish community policing to address security challenges across the states.
