Wike and AGF Advocate for Inclusion of Nigeria Law School in TETFund Act

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, have called for the amendment of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Act 2021 (as amended) to include the Nigeria Law School as one of its beneficiaries. This advocacy was made during an event in Abuja on Monday, where the AGF laid the foundation for the construction of 10 sets of 4-bedroom bungalows for the staff of the Nigeria Law School, Bwari, Abuja. The housing projects, which are sponsored by the FCT Administration, also include furnishings, landscaping, and other ancillary services.

At the same event, the FCT minister also donated three coaster buses and four Hilux vehicles to the Law School. The AGF pointed out that while the Law School is not categorized as a university, it is far from being just an ordinary institution. He emphasized that the time had come for the Nigeria Law School to be recognized as a university, which would enable it to benefit from the TETFund.

Prince Fagbemi further encouraged individuals with the means to support the Law School, which has various campuses across the country, particularly in addressing accommodation challenges for staff. He noted that proper accommodation is vital for staff wellbeing, as it directly impacts the quality of education provided to students.

The AGF also commended Wike for his consistent support of the judiciary, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigeria Law School, recalling his contributions during his tenure as governor of Rivers State. He praised Wike for his integrity, performance, and dedication to completing projects. “He is a man of taste and quality,” Fagbemi said, highlighting Wike’s commitment to ensuring that projects are fully funded and completed.
