Why Marriage May Not Be in My Future – Mercy Eke

Former Big Brother Naija reality show star, Mercy Eke, has expressed her stance on marriage, stating that she would never consider getting married if she had a child out of wedlock.

Eke, who opened up about the pressure she’s facing from her mother to tie the knot, also mentioned that she had previously contemplated the idea of having a child through surrogacy.

In a recent interview with media personality Hero Daniels, the video vixen explained her thoughts, saying, “I had considered the option of having a baby through unconventional means. I thought about using my eggs, finding a sperm donor, hiring a surrogate, and eventually having a beautiful baby.”

She went on to elaborate on the pressure from her mother and her community, saying, “My mother and her friends are constantly attending traditional weddings. After attending countless weddings, they started asking when I would have my own. I told my mother not to pressure me.”

Mercy Eke expressed her admiration for Western culture, where people have the freedom to make unconventional choices in life. She believes that happiness can be found in various ways, including the decision to have a child outside of marriage.

She concluded by stating her conviction, “If I were to have a child outside of marriage, I would not pursue marriage afterward. The love and devotion I would have for my child would be all-encompassing, and I wouldn’t have any love left for a man. I’d dedicate all my love to my baby. In that scenario, I see only one significant relationship remaining for me.”
