“We’ll see what happens” -Napoli Chief speaks on Victor Osimhen’s Contract Situation as Arsenal and Chelsea encircle

Napoli’s sporting director, Mauro Meluso, has provided an update on the contract status of Victor Osimhen, the 2023 CAF African Footballer of the Year. With less than two years remaining on his current deal, Napoli is keen to retain the Nigerian striker amidst interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Negotiations are progressing, and it is anticipated that Osimhen will soon sign a contract extension. The new deal is expected to include a release clause in the range of €130-140 million. Meluso expressed optimism about the ongoing talks but emphasized the club’s preference for making announcements only when all details are finalized.

“We are accustomed to working behind the scenes and without big announcements before things are done. It will obviously be up to President Aurelio De Laurentiis to give the news,” said Meluso in an interview with Mediaset.

The negotiation process has been lengthy, but both parties are eager to reach an agreement in the coming weeks. Meluso stressed the importance of finalizing all aspects before making any official announcements. Meanwhile, Osimhen continues to showcase his prowess on the field, having scored seven goals in 12 league appearances for Napoli under the management of Walter Mazzarri this season.
