We must take care of those who served in our armed forces – Gov Alia

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has charged Nigerians to ensure that those who served in the country’s armed forces are well taken care of.

He gave the charge during the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Interdenominational service organized by the Benue State Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in conjunction with the state government, held at the Chapel of Grace, Government House Makurdi, on Sunday.

He said meeting the needs of those who have put their lives in line of duty to keep the country safe, is the only way they can forget their ugly moments while in service.

Gov Alia called for prayers for the families of the deceased officers, saying their bravery and sacrifices have ensured the rest of the citizens of the country are safe.

He described the Armed Forces Remembrance Day as a day to honour the services and unwavering commitment of the Armed forces to the security of the country.

He charged the people to use the occasion to ensure peace within the state and the country, as a mark of honour to the fallen heroes.

In their remarks, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria ,CAN, Bishop Wilfred Anagbe, and Archbishop of All Nations Evangelism Ministry,Yiman Orkwagh said the Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day, holds a special place in the hearts of Nigerians, especially as it reminds the people of the selfless sacrifices of the armed forces.
