‘We are hungry – Lagos residents yell at Tinubu

A subtle drama unfolded on Friday as inhabitants of Lagos Island and traders from the bustling Idumota market expressed discontent with President Bola Tinubu, vociferously declaring in Yoruba, “Ebi npa wa oo,” which translates to “we are hungry.”

As the president’s convoy traversed the busy market, the traders, lining both sides of the road, refrained from cheering and instead voiced their grievances, attributing their hardships to perceived government actions.

Beneath the audible complaints in the video, residents speculated that the heavy security presence indicated the presidency’s awareness of the people’s sentiments, though the specific details of the alleged initial plan remained undisclosed.

The President’s visit to Lagos is in conjunction with the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Notably, Nigerians are currently observing the Yuletide amidst a backdrop of economic challenges, including cash shortages and the soaring prices of premium motor spirit, commonly known as petrol.
