Toke Makinwa Advises Women: Don’t demand what you can’t afford from men

Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has shared some valuable advice for women in relationships, encouraging them to be realistic and refrain from making extravagant demands on their male partners.

In her latest podcast episode, “TokeMoments,” the actress emphasized that it’s unfair for women to request things they cannot afford for themselves from their significant others. She urged women to avoid putting undue pressure on their male partners.

Makinwa stated, “As a woman, if you’re residing in a less affluent area and you’re pressuring a man to buy you a house in an upscale neighborhood like Banana Island, it’s essential to take a step back and assess the situation. Can you financially contribute to such a purchase, or are you capable of elevating yourself from your current circumstances?”

She further pointed out that a more balanced approach is crucial. For example, if a man is willing to meet a woman halfway in achieving their shared goals, and the woman demonstrates dedication and hard work in pursuit of her dreams, this signifies a partnership built on mutual effort and ambition. She suggested that a constructive dialogue should revolve around whether both partners are willing to make the journey together.

Toke Makinwa also highlighted the fact that women who place excessive demands on men often contribute to the negative stereotypes and insults directed at women. Her advice centers on promoting a more equitable and supportive approach in romantic relationships.
