Tinubu requests Senate approval for Bianca Ojukwu and six other ministerial nominees.

President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to screen and confirm the appointments of seven ministerial nominees announced in Abuja on Wednesday.

The request was outlined in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, which was read during the Thursday plenary session. The nominees include:

– Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
– Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment
– Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
– Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Development
– Idi Muktar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development
– Rt Hon Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State for Housing
– Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Minister of State for Education

In his letter, President Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite the consideration of his request.

Following this, Akpabio announced that the Senate would refer the presidential request to the Committee of the Whole for prompt evaluation. He stated, “Distinguished colleagues, the presidential request is referred to the Committee of the Whole for consideration very soon.”

As the request was submitted on the Senate’s last sitting day of the week, the red chamber is expected to begin the screening of the nominees on Wednesday next week, pending receipt of the necessary documents.
