President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a 30-day national youth conference to tackle unemployment, education, social justice, and other pressing challenges for Nigerian youth. This initiative was unveiled during a speech at the State House, celebrating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
In his address, Tinubu stressed the importance of consulting young people. He will work with their representatives to shape the conference’s agenda and select delegates. “This conference will provide a platform for young people, who make up over 60% of our population,” he stated.
The President highlighted his administration’s commitment to empowering youth through various programs. Notably, the 3 Million Technical Talents Programme (3MTT) aims to develop Nigeria’s technical talent backbone. This initiative equips young people with the skills needed in today’s rapidly changing job market.
The 30-day confab will unite young individuals nationwide. Together, they will collaborate to develop solutions for education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice. Tinubu assured that discussions will focus on the aspirations and voices of Nigerian youth. Their recommendations will shape policies impacting their lives.
“Our leaders are committed to ensuring the aspirations of our youth remain at the core of this conference’s discussions. We will earnestly consider and implement the outcomes as we strive to build a more inclusive, prosperous, and united Nigeria,” he concluded.
