President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated members for the inaugural Governing Board of the North West Development Commission (NWDC).
The names have been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), announced the nominations on Friday. The development follows the President’s signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law in July.
The statement named the chairman as Ambassador Haruna Ginsau (Jigawa), and the MD/CEO as Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji (Kano).
Members are Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto), Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara), Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna), Hon. Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano),Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa).
The statement noted that the appointed board members are anticipated to bring their extensive experience and expertise to the Commission’s mandate of developing the North-West region.
It stated that the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) will concentrate on driving substantial growth, economic empowerment, and social development in the region.
The Presidency affirmed that President Tinubu’s strong commitment to supporting the NWDC in its mission to achieve sustainable development in the North West remains resolute.
