Tinubu Aims to Transform Nigeria as He Did Lagos – French President Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron has praised Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s determination to drive transformative change in Nigeria, drawing parallels to the reforms he implemented during his tenure as governor of Lagos State.

Speaking at a dinner in Paris on Thursday, during Tinubu’s state visit to France, Macron acknowledged Nigeria’s immense potential and commended Tinubu’s leadership in tackling challenges and fostering progress.

“Nigeria is a formidable country with talented young people. Many Nigerians are exceptional in their chosen careers,” Macron stated, as noted in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Tinubu, in his response, expressed gratitude for Macron’s commitment to strengthening relations with Nigeria. He emphasized that Nigeria has embarked on bold economic reforms aimed at securing a brighter future for the nation and the African continent.

“Regarding Nigeria’s economy, as you have said, we have embarked on very strong reforms, and there is no looking back. It is in the interest of the entire continent that we don’t continue in the past. We must brace up for the future with commitment and optimism,” Tinubu said.

He assured Macron that France’s efforts to support Africa’s development, including its partnerships with Nigeria, would yield meaningful results.

“President Macron, all your efforts about Africa, I promise you shall not be in vain. You open your doors for investment for our friends and brothers here. I could see Aliko Dangote, Aig Imoukhuede, and Tony Elumelu here. You have memories of your friends in Nigeria. You asked for Mike Adenuga earlier today. Thank you,” Tinubu remarked.

The state visit underscores the importance of Nigeria-France relations, focusing on collaboration in investment, innovation, and sustainable development. It also reflects Tinubu’s commitment to positioning Nigeria as a leader in Africa’s economic and political resurgence.
