The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, has apprehended a notorious 24-year-old cultist known for terrorizing the local populace. Captain Wasuku Alushi, the Commanding Officer of FOB Igbokoda, represented by the Executive Officer, disclosed this information while presenting the suspect, Tosin Wanlele, to journalists on November 14, 2023.
Captain Alushi emphasized the ongoing commitment to combat cultism and criminal activities in their operational domain, citing the successful apprehension of Wanlele on November 12, 2023. The suspect, along with others still at large, was accused of intimidating and harassing passers-by with dangerous weapons.
Acting on credible intelligence, the FOB responded promptly, leading to the arrest of Wanlele. The head of the Vigilante in Igbokoda confirmed Wanlele as a notorious cultist with a history of terrorizing the community. Consequently, Wanlele has been handed over to the Department of State Service (DSS) for further investigation.
Captain Alushi highlighted the continued collaboration between the FOB and other security agencies in Ondo State to curb cultism in their operational area. He assured the public that Igbokoda and its surroundings are presently calm and will remain so.
Despite the peace, the FOB reiterated its commitment to an aggressive stance against criminal activities, fostering an environment where legitimate businesses can flourish without hindrance. Captain Alushi urged the residents of Igbokoda to provide timely and actionable intelligence on criminal elements to facilitate arrests and maintain the security of the area.
