Technician arrested or stealing solar panels in Lagos

The Lagos state police command has arrested a 30-year-old technician, Emmanuel Achogwu, for allegedly stealing four solar panels in the Ikosi area of the state on Monday, December 25.

The suspect who was one of the technicians contracted to install the panels in the area, returned to vandalise the panels meant to power streetlights in the area.

Confirming his arrest, Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said in a statement;

“Recently, #followlasg installed some solar-powered streetlights in some parts of the state. A few weeks later, the solar panels were stolen.

“The police were informed and got to work. A few days ago, 30-year-old Emmanuel Achogwu was arrested by officers from Alausa Division on Ikosi Road with four solar panels, moments after he removed them.

“Investigation reveals that the suspect was one of the technicians contracted to install the solar-powered streetlights. The investigation is ongoing.”
