Nigeria’s Supreme Court has assembled a seven-member panel of justices to review the appeals presented by Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Chichi Ojei. These three individuals, who respectively ran as presidential candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), are contesting the results of the presidential election that took place on February 25.
The court issued notices for these proceedings, which were signed by Zainab M. Garba from the registrar’s office. In accordance with Order 2 Rule 1 (2) of the Supreme Court’s Rules from 1985, as amended, the notices are considered legally served upon the parties involved.
The panel of justices designated to preside over these appeals comprises Musa Dattijo Muhammad, Uwani Musa Abba Aji, Lawal Garba, Helen M. Ogunwumiju, I.N. Saulawa, Tijjani Abubakar, and Emmanuel Agim.
Furthermore, the Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing for Monday, October 23, regarding a motion filed by Atiku. This motion seeks to introduce new evidence aimed at substantiating allegations that President Bola Tinubu submitted a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
