Soldiers Save Abducted Woman and Apprehend Two Suspects in Edo State

The Nigerian Army successfully rescued Blessing Uwenze, a woman who had been abducted in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, made the announcement in a statement on Friday, October 2023. He disclosed that during the operation, two members of the kidnapping gang were apprehended, and a cache of weapons and fetish items was recovered.

According to the statement, the rescue operation unfolded as part of Exercise STILL WATERS III, conducted by troops of the 4 Brigade. On the 18th of October 2023, they received a distress call from a concerned citizen reporting a kidnapping incident in the Obagie community within the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

The swift response of the troops led to the safe rescue of Miss Blessing Uwenze, who had been held captive by a criminal gang. Two individuals affiliated with the kidnapping gang were arrested and detained for further investigation. Among the items seized from the suspects were two Semi-Automatic Pump Action guns, four live cartridges, a mobile phone, and a collection of fetish items.

Miss Blessing Uwenze was subsequently reunited with her family, bringing an end to her harrowing ordeal.
