Gunmen, suspected to be bandits, have carried out a deadly attack in Gada community, located in the Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The incident resulted in the loss of several lives, and a number of individuals were also abducted during the assault.
According to Ibrahim Musa, a resident of the village, the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community at approximately 6 pm on Saturday. Riding motorcycles in considerable numbers, they unleashed indiscriminate gunfire on the villagers. Musa reported that seven people lost their lives in the brutal operation, while numerous others were taken captive.
This tragic event unfolded just a day after the departure of the governor, who had traveled to Imo State to lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) team for the governorship election.
Expressing deep concern for the deteriorating situation, Musa called on the federal government to intervene urgently and rescue the residents of Zamfara State. He emphasized the urgent need for increased security measures, stating, “No one in the state is safe, and we implore the federal government to deploy more security personnel to Zamfara State to curb the persistent activities of the notorious bandits.”
Despite attempts by newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, to contact the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, no response was received at the time of compiling this report.
