Serie A: Napoli boss banks on Osimhen for title defence

Napoli’s manager, Walter Mazzarri, is optimistic about Victor Osimhen’s swift return to peak form after the Nigerian striker played a key role in inspiring a 2-1 away victory against Atalanta on Saturday night.

Osimhen, who came off the bench, set up Elf Elmas for the decisive goal at Bergamo’s Gewiss Stadium. This marked his first goal for the Serie A champions since recovering from a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty last month.

Expressing admiration for the talismanic striker, Mazzarri, who recently assumed the managerial role at Napoli, commented, “I didn’t need to become the Napoli coach to recognize Osimhen’s excellence; I had observed him play! Fortunately, he is back, and I hope he regains his top form as quickly as possible.”

The 24-year-old forward has contributed six goals in nine appearances for Napoli this season.
