Senate President Godswill Akpabio emphasized that he has never consumed alcohol or smoked cigarettes in his life due to their adverse effects on the human body. Akpabio made these remarks while addressing secondary school students who took part in the National Quiz Competition’s grand finale, organized by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies.
During his address, Akpabio praised the schools that reached the competition’s finals and encouraged the youth to avoid indulging in behaviors that could hinder their dreams and aspirations. Specifically, he urged them to stay away from alcohol and any form of substance abuse that might jeopardize their well-being.
Akpabio delivered a message to the students, emphasizing the importance of becoming visionary leaders by abstaining from activities that could derail their goals. He shared his personal commitment to a substance-free lifestyle, attributing it to the guidance he received from his parents during his formative years. He recounted childhood observations of individuals intoxicated by alcohol, which left a lasting impression on him.
He expressed the need for Nigeria to have honest, God-fearing youths, highlighting the importance of maintaining a virtuous lifestyle.
