Senate Pardons and Recalls Suspended Senator Abdul Ningi

The Senate has officially pardoned and reinstated Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ahmed Ningi.

Ningi’s suspension, which lasted for three months, was imposed on March 12, 2024, following his accusation of budget padding within the Senate.

The recall process was initiated after a motion was presented by Deputy Minority Leader Sen. Abba Moro, who expressed remorse on behalf of the suspended senator.

Sen. Abba Moro took full responsibility for Sen. Ningi’s actions and acknowledged the seriousness of the suspension. Ningi’s conduct during the period of suspension was closely scrutinized and debated within the legislative body.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio highlighted Sen. Ningi’s contributions and described him as a valued member of the Senate. Akpabio emphasized that the decision to recall Sen. Ningi transcends religious and ethnic considerations.
