Malam Musa Aliyu’s appointment as the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has received the Senate’s official confirmation.
This development followed a motion presented by Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti), the Senate Leader, during the Committee of the Whole meeting on October 26th. Bamidele called on the Senate to consider President Bola Tinubu’s request for the confirmation of Aliyu as the ICPC Chairman. He emphasized that this request was in compliance with Section 3 (6) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Establishment Act, 2000.
Additionally, Bamidele urged the Senate to review Tinubu’s request for the confirmation of Mr. Saka Suleiman and Prof. Gaji Dantata as members of the Federal Judicial Service Commission.
In his remarks, Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, presiding over the plenary, emphasized that these appointments represent a call to serve the nation. He encouraged the newly appointed officials not to let down the President and the Nigerian people, urging them to bring their best efforts to the service of the country.
