The Nigerian Army has reported that soldiers from the 1 Division successfully eliminated three bandits and seized weapons in Kaduna. Lt-Col Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division, confirmed the event in a statement released in Kaduna.
According to the statement, acting on credible intelligence, troops from the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch conducted a clearance operation in the Maro – Chibiya forest area of Kajuru Local Government Area in Kaduna State on November 12. During the operation, the troops confronted the armed bandits with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralization of one bandit, while others fled with gunshot wounds into the surrounding forest.
The army further disclosed that during the operation, they seized one AK-47 rifle, one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, four 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and one mobile phone.
Additionally, on November 10, troops from the division and Operation Whirl Punch, engaged bandits during a clearance operation at Kawara and Filin Jalo villages in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. In the ensuing firefight, one bandit was neutralized, and the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, along with one motorcycle and one Techno phone. Other bandits managed to escape with gunshot wounds, according to Lt-Col Musa Yahaya.
