In a covert military operation targeting marauding terrorists in Sokoto State, the troops of the 8th Division Garrison executed a meticulously planned offensive maneuver into Tukandu Village. This operation specifically aimed to neutralize a notorious terrorist group responsible for numerous heinous and atrocious acts within the region.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, revealed this development in an official statement. The operation was conducted on the 24th of October, 2023.
During this operation, the troops conducted a fierce assault, resulting in the elimination of several terrorists, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds. In the subsequent mop-up actions, the military recovered three AK-47 rifles, one PKT gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, 2 rocket-propelled gun bombs, and nine motorcycles.
Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, commended the troops for their exemplary performance and urged them to maintain their determination and intensify their efforts in combating terrorism. The objective remains to diminish the terrorists’ capabilities and restrict their freedom of action.
