Rodri’s Surprise Comeback Sparks Hope for Man City
Manchester City midfielder Rodri is back in training, fueling optimism for an early return after suffering a serious knee injury in September. The 28-year-old Spaniard was initially expected to miss the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in City’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal.
A Boost for Guardiola’s Struggling Squad
Rodri’s absence has been a major setback for Pep Guardiola’s squad, contributing to their underwhelming season. The English champions currently sit 20 points behind Liverpool, have exited the Champions League, and were knocked out of the League Cup.
However, in a major boost for City, the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner was spotted in an individual training session at the club’s Etihad Campus, as seen in a video released by City on Friday.
When Will Rodri Be Back?
Rodri had initially aimed to recover in time for the Club World Cup in the United States, which kicks off on June 14. However, Guardiola remains cautious about setting a fixed return date for his midfield anchor.
Guardiola stated earlier this month:
“The most important thing is for him to recover well. He is not a teenager, but he still has years ahead of him. If he recovers properly, he will play again.”
Can Man City Salvage Their Season?
With City’s title hopes fading fast, Rodri’s return could provide a crucial lift as they chase silverware on other fronts. Fans will be hoping their midfield general can make a comeback sooner than expected.
