Rhodes-Vivour Declares Intent to Run for Lagos Governor Again in 2027

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 Lagos governorship election, has announced his intention to run for governor again in 2027. He made this declaration during an interview on Gold Room, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining an active opposition presence and addressing the issues faced by Lagosians.

Rhodes-Vivour criticized the common trend of opposition parties fading into silence after elections and vowed to change that narrative. He highlighted ongoing initiatives, including health outreaches and a micro health insurance plan providing free treatment worth up to ₦6,000 for residents across the state.

As a seasoned politician, Rhodes-Vivour has a strong background in activism and public service. He was the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Lagos West senatorial district in the 2019 Senate elections. He has also been a vocal advocate for various social and environmental causes, including the fight against genetically modified foods in Nigeria.

Rhodes-Vivour’s commitment to active opposition and accountability is crucial in ensuring that the government prioritizes the needs of its citizens. As he aptly put it, “When the opposition holds the government accountable, the people ultimately benefit.”
