Protest rocks Ogun polytechnic as robbers, cultists kill, rape students

Students from Gateway Polytechnic in Saapade, Ogun State, staged a protest on Tuesday decrying attacks on their off-campus hostels by armed individuals believed to be robbers and cultists.

During the demonstration, the students, carrying placards with various messages, expressed their frustration with the recent wave of violence. Some students, speaking anonymously for security reasons, disclosed that at least two students had lost their lives in the past few days.

The students claimed that the armed assailants typically raided the hostels at night, robbing students of their phones, money, and other valuables. They also reported incidents of rape and physical assault, emphasizing that the situation had reached a point where they could no longer sleep peacefully.

In a statement, the students chanted, “These criminals come to take our belongings and even force themselves on girls. It is getting too much. This must not continue.”

Disturbing images shared on social media depicted the lifeless body of a murdered student on the floor, while four others with injuries were shown receiving medical attention in what appeared to be a hospital setting.
