Property worth N19 million was lost in a devastating fire incident in Ilorin.

A blaze that erupted on Tuesday evening in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, wreaked havoc by consuming property valued at more than N19 million.

The fire originated at Zion Overcomer, situated opposite Duro Suleiman’s house on the University of Ilorin Road, within Ilorin South Local Government Area. The incident, reported around 17:50 hours on Tuesday, was swiftly brought under control by the timely intervention of firefighters, preventing its escalation to nearby facilities.

Seven shops bore the brunt of the fire, as disclosed by the spokesperson for the state Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, and the fire’s origin was attributed to a power surge.

Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the Director of Kwara State Fire Service, emphasized the importance of public safety during this period. He urged individuals to exercise caution and promptly contact the fire brigade in case of emergencies in their respective areas.
