Princess Beatrice Welcomes Second Child, Honoring Queen Elizabeth in Her Name

Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, have welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi.

Buckingham Palace announced the joyous news on Wednesday, January 29, confirming that Athena was born on January 22 at 12:57 p.m. at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. She weighed four pounds and five ounces at birth.

A statement from the palace shared that King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other members of the royal family have been informed and are delighted with the news.

Beatrice, the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, expressed gratitude alongside her husband, thanking the hospital staff for their “wonderful care.” The statement also reassured that both mother and baby are healthy and doing well.

Athena’s middle name, Elizabeth, is seen as a heartfelt tribute to Beatrice’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
