British broadcaster Piers Morgan has sparked controversy by asserting that Lionel Messi is not the greatest Argentinian player of all time. His comments came in response to a recent poll conducted by Marca, which named Messi, currently playing for Inter Miami in MLS, as the greatest player of all time.
In the poll, Messi surpassed notable competitors, including his longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo and the late Brazilian legend Pelé. However, Morgan expressed his disagreement by quote-retweeting the poll results, stating, “Messi’s not even the greatest Argentinian player of all time.”
Despite Morgan’s stance, Messi remains a historic figure in football, being the only player to have won the Ballon d’Or eight times, while Ronaldo follows with five awards.
