The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in all the seats contested during the recently concluded local government council election in Taraba State held on Saturday.
As reported by the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC), the ruling party secured victory in all 16 local government chairmanship positions and the entire 168 ward councilorship positions. Dr. Philip Duwe, the Commission’s chairman, announced the election results on Sunday in Jalingo, the state capital, emphasizing the legitimacy of the outcomes declared at the local government collation centers.
Dr. Duwe expressed gratitude to the media for their objective coverage throughout the electoral process, acknowledging their commitment and resilience in challenging times. He commended the media for their excellent service to the nation.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the major opposition party, has contested the results and called for the cancellation of the election. Barrister Ibrahim Tuktur El-Sudi, the APC state chairman, labeled the exercise as “a sham” and alleged that results were predetermined in favor of the PDP even before the commencement of the election.
