The Osun State Police Command has issued a stern warning against any actions that could threaten the state’s peace and security. In a statement released by Commissioner of Police Mohammed Umar Abba through Command spokesperson Yemisi Opalola on Wednesday, the police emphasized that they will not tolerate attempts to disrupt the state’s tranquil environment.
The warning follows reports that certain individuals are plotting to undermine the peaceful nature of the recent EndBadGovernance protest in the state. The statement noted that these individuals are dissatisfied with the orderly conduct of the protest by the Coalition of Civil Organizations, Osun State Chapter, which was suspended on August 6, 2024, to honor the Osun Osogbo Festival.
The statement read: “The Osun State Police Command wishes to inform the public that it is aware of some unscrupulous elements seeking to disrupt the peace of the state. These individuals are unhappy with the peaceful manner in which the EndBadGovernance protest was conducted and subsequently suspended.
“The Command assures the public that it will not tolerate any actions that compromise the state’s peace and security. We will not stand by while mischief makers attempt to disturb the peaceful atmosphere.
“The public is advised to remain calm, continue their lawful activities, and report any unlawful gatherings to the authorities.”
