The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, led by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, have reaffirmed the party’s unity and endorsed its candidate ahead of the Ondo 2024 governorship election. This show of solidarity was showcased at a massive rally in Ondo State on Tuesday.
Governor Adeleke, who chairs the Ondo State Governorship Campaign Council, reassured party members and supporters that the PDP remains one united family, despite recent upheavals concerning the removal and reinstatement of national officials. He called on the people of Ondo to come out in full force and vote for the PDP candidate, Agboola Ajayi, in the upcoming election.
“The PDP is the only alternative for a brighter future for the people of Ondo. Go out and cast your votes for Agboola,” Adeleke urged.
In a statement released by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, it was emphasized that party leaders have come together to ensure unity and respect for the party’s constitution, further strengthening their campaign.
Governor Seyi Makinde echoed Adeleke’s message of unity, urging Ondo citizens to show their support for good governance by voting for the PDP’s candidate. He emphasized that the PDP remains the best party to deliver on democratic promises, both in Ondo and across Nigeria.
Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Muhammed, also addressed the crowd, dismissing any rumors of internal divisions within the party. “There is no faction in the PDP. We are one. You can see how we are demonstrating love and unity. We are putting our house in order,” Muhammed assured the public.
The acting PDP Chairman, Usman Damagun, urged the electorate to rally behind the party, while former Ebonyi Governor Sam Egwu called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure free and fair elections. Egwu emphasized the importance of protecting democracy by letting the people’s will prevail, reminding Tinubu of his role as the “father of all.”
