The Ogun State government is preparing to recruit an additional 1,000 interns for the Ogun TEACh program to address staffing shortages in public schools throughout the state. This recruitment initiative is being organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in collaboration with the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB). The Ogun Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel (Ogun TEACh) is a targeted intervention aimed at filling vacancies in public primary, secondary, and technical schools.
In a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, it was emphasized that applicants must possess at least a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a B.A. (Edu), B.Sc. (Ed), or B.Ed. degree with a minimum Second Class Lower division in relevant fields.
The statement also clarified that candidates from other academic disciplines must have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from recognized institutions. Additionally, those applying for positions in technical colleges are required to hold a B.Sc. in Technical Education, B.Sc. in Engineering, B.Eng., or an HND in engineering fields.
Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their applications through the Ogun State Job Portal at www.teach.ogunstate.gov.ng between Wednesday, October 16, and Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
According to the announcement, successful candidates, referred to as TEACh Interns, will be assigned to Local Government Areas where their services are most urgently needed and will receive a monthly stipend for two years. After this period, they will be evaluated based on criteria including expertise, dedication to their roles, punctuality, respect for authority, and their willingness to work in various locations.
This recruitment of 1,000 interns marks the final phase of a commitment by Governor Dapo Abiodun to hire a total of 5,000 interns. The initial group of 4,000 interns has already been offered permanent teaching positions.
