Protest Against Hardship
The organizers of the October 1 nationwide protest against rising hardship in Nigeria are resolute. They have declared that there is “no going back” on their plans for the upcoming showdown. 🚨
Government Response
Despite pushback from the Federal Government and warnings from the Nigeria Police Force, former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore remains undeterred. He shared a bold message on X, stating, “NO GOING BACK! #FearlessInOctober.”
Rising Costs and Challenges
In a recent interview, Sowore highlighted the grim realities that have worsened since the last protest on August 1. He pointed out that petrol prices have surged by nearly N300 per litre in just two months. The naira has further devalued, and market prices have skyrocketed. Additionally, floods are devastating cities, and bandits are terrorizing communities.
Protest Locations and Timing
The planned protest aims to remain peaceful. Sowore announced that it will take place at Eagles Square in Abuja. In Lagos, organizers will start their march at 7:30 AM from the Ikeja Under Bridge.
