The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has officially acknowledged a fire incident at the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 20, the national oil corporation reassured the public that the fire, although successfully contained, would not disrupt the ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the refinery.
The statement provided further details:
“Today, at approximately 15:02hrs, a minor fire incident took place at the cooling tower of the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited. This incident was a consequence of ongoing welding activities at the top of the cooling tower. It is important to emphasize that this incident will not have any impact on the timeline for the refinery’s rehabilitation project.
NNPC Limited’s safety personnel at the refinery responded promptly and effectively extinguished the fire, concluding the operation by approximately 15:30hrs. As a result, normalcy has been fully restored to the facility.”
