A Nigerian medical student, who went by the name Ikem, was reportedly subjected to a brutal and tragic incident at the hands of a group of Chinese individuals in the Philippines.
The unsettling news came to light through a post made by Michael Ojuola on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Ojuola, a close friend of the victim, shared the distressing details in his post, expressing his shock and anguish.
In his statement, Ojuola stated, “A friend of mine, a Nigerian medical student named Ikem, who was pursuing his studies in the Republic of the Philippines, was subjected to a horrifying ordeal, ultimately resulting in his untimely demise. He fell victim to a group of Chinese individuals.”
He went on to describe the harrowing event, revealing that Ikem had been tied up, with his mouth covered and bound, and then subjected to relentless physical assault until his life was tragically extinguished. The brutality of the act deeply disturbed Ojuola, who emphasized that such a grievous incident should not be overlooked or downplayed, regardless of the diplomatic ties between the Philippines and China.
Ojuola concluded his heartfelt post by expressing his profound shock and grief, stating, “This is an act of extreme inhumanity and barbarism! The horrific videos I’ve received from the hospital are overwhelming, and I can’t even fathom this at the moment.”
He called upon the President of the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and other relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this tragic case. The call for justice and accountability in this matter is paramount.
