The Nigerian Army has achieved significant success in its recent operations, according to a statement by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ). Over the course of one week, the army reported that it had eliminated 113 terrorists, apprehended 300 suspects, and successfully rescued 91 kidnap victims.
Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, provided these details during a press briefing. In addition to these accomplishments, the troops also arrested 25 individuals suspected of involvement in oil theft, demolished 49 illegal refining sites, and confiscated stolen products valued at N571 million.
The security forces further recovered 129 assorted weapons and 717 different types of ammunition. The DHQ reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to maintaining military pressure on groups that threaten peace and security within the country.
Buba emphasized, “There is no doubt that these groups must be defeated and are indeed being defeated. It is for these reasons we are inflicting severe damage on the terrorist, insurgents, and violent extremists through our operations across the country. Accordingly, we are targeting their leadership, infrastructure, and foot soldiers.”
He also highlighted the remarkable coordination between air and ground forces, yielding impressive results. The DHQ anticipates the introduction of new platforms that will enhance their capabilities and further weaken the terrorist groups.
The spokesperson for DHQ provided a detailed breakdown of the items recovered during the operations, including a wide range of weapons, ammunition, and equipment, underscoring the substantial impact of the military’s efforts in countering threats to national security.
