Governor Hope Uzodimma, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged victorious in the Imo State gubernatorial election held on Saturday, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Owerri on Sunday.
Prof Abayomi Fasina, the State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, announced that Governor Uzodimma secured a total of 540,308 votes, surpassing the candidates from other parties.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, secured the second position with 71,503 votes, while Athan Achonu of the Labour Party came in third with 64,081 votes, according to the official results released by INEC.
