Newcastle United, a prominent Premier League club, is currently contemplating a potential move for Victor Boniface, a forward hailing from Bayer Leverkusen.
Boniface recently made a notable transfer from Union St Gilloise in the Belgian Pro League to Bundesliga’s Bayer Leverkusen, with the club spending €12 million on this acquisition during the summer.
The robust and talented striker has garnered attention with an impressive performance, having scored nine goals and provided three assists in just 10 games for Bayer Leverkusen.
According to reports from The Sun, Newcastle United’s scouts closely monitored Boniface during his recent appearance for the Nigerian national team in a friendly match against Saudi Arabia, which took place in Portugal.
Although the 22-year-old did not find the net during the game, he proved to be a significant presence on the field, posing a considerable threat to Saudi Arabia’s defense and even contributing to an own goal by the opposition.
Newcastle United’s manager, Eddie Howe, is keen on enhancing the physicality of his attacking line. He views Victor Boniface as a prime target who can complement the abilities of other key forwards in the squad, such as Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.
