NAFDAC Clarifies the Status of Four Regulated Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has clarified the registration status of certain products circulating in the public domain. In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja and signed by Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the agency sought to address concerns regarding the alleged expiration of licenses for specific products.

The products in question include Cway Drinking Water, Eva Premium Table Water, Peak Full Cream Instant Milk Powder, and Golden Penny Pasta Spaghetti. Prof. Adeyeye emphasized the need to dispel misinformation suggesting that the agency was overlooking manufacturers with expired licenses.

Upon investigation by the Director of Food Registration and Regulatory Affairs, the agency found that the registration status of the mentioned products was indeed valid. Adeyeye provided explicit details of the valid registration periods for each product: Cway Drinking Water (Oct. 28, 2021 – Oct. 27, 2026), Eva Premium Table Water (Feb. 27, 2022 – Feb. 26, 2025), Peak Full Cream Instant Milk Powder (June 5, 2020 – June 4, 2025), and Golden Penny Pasta Spaghetti (Nov. 30, 2023 – Nov. 29, 2028).

The statement also addressed claims related to Gino Magic Seasoning Tomato Mix and Cway Ultra Drinking Water. Gino Tomato Mix is no longer in circulation due to the Federal Government’s prohibition of importation on certain products. Meanwhile, Cway Ultra Drinking Water is no longer available in the market.

NAFDAC urged the public to utilize the NAFDAC Registered Products Automated Database (NAPPAD) to check the registration status of regulated products. Prof. Adeyeye emphasized that the search system is not the final verdict, and stakeholders can contact the agency for additional information, considering the possibility of a backlog of approvals yet to be uploaded.
