Napoli’s captain, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, holds the belief that Victor Osimhen can play a pivotal role in helping the Serie A champions secure a victory against Real Madrid in the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash. The Partenopei are set to host Carlo Ancelotti’s squad at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona on Tuesday night.
Osimhen has been making headlines in recent days for various reasons. The Nigerian striker expressed his frustration to Napoli coach Garcia after being substituted during a match against Bologna. Furthermore, his agent issued a warning to the club, indicating the possibility of legal action due to TikTok videos that were published by Napoli and later removed.
In the last weekend’s game against Udinese, the 24-year-old was initially named among the substitutes. However, he came off the bench in the second half and made an immediate impact by scoring a goal shortly after replacing Giovanni Simeone.
Di Lorenzo emphasized the team’s support for Osimhen, as they look to secure a victory against Real Madrid.
“Nothing has changed for us. His relationships inside the dressing room, his behaviour and his desire to give the best for this team have not changed,” claimed Di Lorenzo in his pre-match press conference.
“He is always available for his teammates, as you saw in the game [against Lecce]. To us, he is the same Osimhen. A great player who gives his best and will continue doing the same tomorrow.”’
