Argentina legend Lionel Messi has shared some valuable advice with former Real Madrid player Nico Paz, emphasizing that the young midfielder wasn’t even born when Messi made his professional debut.
Paz, just 20 years old, recently made his debut for the Albiceleste during Argentina’s impressive 6-0 victory over Bolivia in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. Coming off the bench for Lautaro Martinez in the second half, he contributed to an already commanding lead.
Messi, who played a pivotal role in the match alongside Martinez and Julian Alvarez, praised Paz’s potential and encouraged him to keep honing his skills.
Reflecting on Paz’s debut, Messi noted, “Now Nico Paz has made his debut, and he has a lot of quality, and I hope he continues to grow. He wasn’t born when I made my debut in Primera, yes, I knew (laughs). He has a great head. He understands the game perfectly, and I hope he continues like this. He played; he enjoyed it, and I think he’ll feel comfortable in this team because he likes having the ball.”
