Martinez’s scorching form keeps Inter ahead in Serie A against Juventus.

Lautaro Martinez ensured Inter Milan maintained their two-point lead at the summit of Serie A with his crucial goal in Sunday’s hard-fought 1-1 draw against nearest rivals Juventus. The Argentine forward elegantly finished Marcus Thuram’s precise low cross in the 33rd minute, capitalizing on impressive build-up play from his strike partner on the right flank. This goal kept second-placed Juventus at a distance in the ongoing title race.

Martinez’s 15th goal across all competitions swiftly equalized the score, responding to Dusan Vlahovic’s similar first-time finish six minutes earlier at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. The draw halted Inter’s impressive six-match winning streak across all competitions. Despite this, Inter, who are favorites for their 20th Scudetto, maintained their two-point lead over AC Milan, who have won the league 19 times.

Reflecting on the match, coach Simone Inzaghi acknowledged the difficulty of scoring against Juventus but expressed satisfaction with the point earned. “For how the match went, we’ll take the point,” he stated in an interview with DAZN. Looking ahead, Inter faces a challenging schedule, including a Champions League trip to Benfica on Wednesday and an upcoming clash with Napoli in Naples next Sunday. Despite already securing a spot in the Champions League last 16, they are in a competitive battle with Real Sociedad for the top spot in Group D, with the Spanish team scheduled to visit Milan next month.
