Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly moving out of his £8.5 million mansion in Barcelona following his unexpected separation from his wife, Cristina Serra, after 30 years of marriage and three children.
Spanish reports on Monday evening confirmed that Guardiola and Cristina had decided to part ways. Guardiola has long stayed in their family home—a lavish £8.4 million property in Barcelona—whenever he returns to the city from Manchester. Cristina, however, is expected to remain in the mansion, which was previously owned by Guardiola’s former Mexican centre-back, Rafa Marquez.
Guardiola purchased the property, located in an upscale area of Barcelona, in February 2021 from a Russian businessman for €10 million (£8.4 million). Cristina moved in two years later, following their relocation from Manchester.
According to Spanish news outlet El Confidencial, the mansion offers seclusion, making it “the perfect place for a separation without anyone discovering when you leave or enter.” Despite the separation, the couple reportedly spent Christmas together at the property with their three children: Maria (24), Marius (22), and 17-year-old Valentina.
El Confidencial noted that the mansion marked the physical distance between Guardiola and his wife since 2021, although they remained under the same roof for the holiday season.
When Guardiola is not in Barcelona, he resides in the Deansgate CitySuites in central Manchester.
Spanish journalist Lorena Vazquez, who first reported the split, clarified that there was no third party involved in the decision. Vazquez, part of the well-known reporting duo “Mamarazzis,” explained that the couple had discussed the separation for several months and that their relationship remains cordial and affectionate. She added that only a select few were aware of their living arrangements, and no one anticipated the media confirming the split.
