Jones was celebrated for his iconic roles, including the voice of Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise and Mufasa in Disney’s *The Lion King* (1994). His distinguished career also featured notable performances in films such as *Field of Dreams*, *Conan the Barbarian*, *Coming to America*, and *The Greatest*.

Born in Mississippi in January 1931, Jones is survived by his son, Flynn Earl Jones. He had publicly discussed his long-term struggle with type 2 diabetes in recent years.
